Atomic BC2 BCD
The Atomic BC2 is a truly premium grade BCD that incorporates much of the design elements and material choices from the original jacket style BC1 but with a back inflation bladder instead. As with all Atomic products the BC2 is designed to be the best in class.
Not only does the BC2 look spectacular but it is also REALLY tough. It is made using a unique double-laminated polyurethane-coated fabric with a matte coated finish that actually sheds the water rather than absorbing it, it can withstand nearly twice the pressure of the materials typically used in BCDs and is virtually impenetrable and resists abrasion, tears and punctures. On top of all that it is self-cleaning (the material, not the BCD!), UV and stain-resistant, resists chemicals, mould, rot and mildew. This is a BCD designed for a long life!
The bladder has been designed to be repairable/replaceable should something manage to damage it or puncture the tough outer fabric. Unlike most the vast majority of off the shelf BCDs, the BC2 has actually been designed to be neutrally buoyant (without weight added to the pockets), providing a stable and consistent platform to start from.
The BC2 is of course fitted with an integrated weight system that enables divers to quickly and easily load weights while in or out of the water. The zippered pouches each hold up to 4.5kg (10lbs) of hard or soft weights (6kg / 14lbs for XL size). The weight pouches slide into pockets and lock into place with a reassuring SNAP. A simple one-handed tug on the handle is all it takes to release.
Comfort is of paramount importance to Atomic so the BC2 is fitted with adjustable lumbar pads and a unique quilted back pad that is just as functional as is it incredible to look at. The shoulder straps also have quilted padding.
As on the BC1, the BCD features Atomic’s ratcheting CAM-LOK Tank Band that allows divers to mount and secure the BC2 to a wide range of tank sizes in just seconds. The ratcheting band is similar to the bindings on ski boots and quickly adjusts without the cumbersome weaving of webbing through a buckle. Unlike a traditional cylinder strap the BC2 has a strong polyurethane coated and sealed one-piece band that prevents slipping, stretching or water absorption, unlike conventional nylon webbing.
Please note: The BC2 does not come with an inflator as standard so an inflator must be purchased to be able to use and operate the BC2.
